This TNA
The recommendation from the Training Needs Assessment (TNA) is based on a practical assessment conducted between the student and trainer.
This assessment identifies the specific training requirements and informs the training recommendation.
The TNA quote provided is valid for 60 days from the date of the assessment.
Rental Laptop
SBS offers laptop rental (subject to availability) for students without access to a compatible computer or with an incompatible operating system (Windows 8 or Chromebook).
The student is required to sign a standard rental agreement, and the laptop must be returned to SBS by the student at the end of training. The laptop will remain available for student use throughout the training programme.
The weekly rental laptop rate is $45 (+GST), charged per week or part thereof, regardless of the number of training hours completed each week.
This weekly fee begins from the first scheduled training session until the final session or the cancellation or closure of the training. A minimum rental period of three weeks applies, with a total charge of $135 (+GST).
Training On Hold
When training is placed on hold at the request of the referrer or student, the $45 weekly laptop rental fee will continue to apply.
If training remains on hold for more than three weeks, SBS can request the return of the laptop from the student, and the rental charges will be paused. Upon resuming training, a new laptop will be issued subject to availability, and the weekly rental charge will restart.
Where a laptop is dispatched, but training does not occur (due to cancellation, closure, or an extended hold before the start of training), SBS will charge a $90 (+GST) laptop administration fee to cover courier, set up, and administrative costs.
Student Attendance and Late Cancellation
Regular student attendance is vital for making progress and developing the skills needed to meet learning goals within the scheduled training plans. SBS monitors attendance closely and reports on any non-attendance/ late cancellation to improve participation and help students achieve their training objectives.
SBS values the support of referrers in encouraging regular attendance and addressing any attendance issues.
SBS reserves the right to put a student’s training on hold until attendance concerns are resolved and may close training for ongoing attendance problems.
Late Cancellations
If advance notice is given about being unable to attend a scheduled session, the session will be rescheduled, and no training time will be deducted.
Time Deducted for No-Shows
In the case of a missed session without prior notice, one hour of training will be considered used, regardless of the session’s original length.
Additional time may be needed to achieve student training goals.
Close Out Before Training Start
In the case of approved training being canceled or closed out before a single training session occurs, SBS will invoice the referrer according to the time and costs incurred (i.e. coordinator time, trainer time, laptop courier costs, printed materials costs etc).
MS Office 365 Subscription
For those using a computer with a compatible operating system (Windows 10 or Windows 11), an MS Office 365 subscription is recommended.
Before installation, SBS’s IT technician will check the computer’s suitability and safety for Office 365. If concerns arise, the installation will not proceed.
A consent form must be signed to allow the IT technician to install MS Office 365, which may involve remote access and temporary applications (e.g., TeamViewer).
SBS is not liable for any damage or impairment caused by the installation. While installing MS Office 365 is typically routine and safe, factors such as the computer’s performance, age, or prior condition cannot be fully predicted.
